Sometimes you struggle to believe in yourself…

Sometimes your self-respect disappears under the weight of your burdens and your desire to please others. Take 3 minutes to once again find your inner beauty — where it’s only hidden, not gone — and restore your own love and caring for yourself.

An affirmation for glowing self-respect

I am a fierce, beautiful woman.

I have my share of scars and struggles.

There are times when I lose all my self love and self-respect in an ocean of sorrows, demands, or the desire to be loved by others.

But today, right now, I will love myself.

Because I am a fierce, beautiful woman, creatively and uniquely made and filled with a light that cannot be extinguished, even if it does get covered up sometimes.

This light was molded into my bones when I was made. When I say “I am worthwhile, and I am enough,” my inner structure straightens up a bit, and remembers pride. The light begins to glow again.

Today when I experience the demands or critiques of those around me, I will turn them carefully in my hands and ask “Does this belong to me?”

Because if it doesn’t, I will smile and return it to the ocean, which will perhaps deliver it to another shore.

Today I will not compare myself to others. Instead I choose to love myself body, soul, and spirit. I will look for the good inside myself, polish the beauty inside myself, and allow my inner light to rise up from within, and make my footprints glow as I walk.

My radiance cannot be contained by my skin. Everywhere I go today I leave patterns of light.

All my ferocious, beautiful love and self-respect is in full shine today.

Are you experiencing an overload of noise and distraction?

Although you may not have control over the noises outside and around you, you do have the option of calming and clearing your inner state. Take 3 minutes to tune out noise and distractions. When you quiet your inner architecture, you can receive the rest and renewal you need in order to think clearly and purposefully about the true direction your heart desires.

An earth fountain meditation to help you tune out noise, and rediscover your focus

As a green leaf is connected to the branch, so I feel my feet firmly connected with the solid ground beneath me.

I take a moment to experience the groundedness of the earth pulsing with great, slow, planet-sized heartbeats.

With each earth-pulse, green and gold energy flows naturally up through my feet…

into the strong, supple trunk of my body…

out along my arms and into my outspread fingers…

and further up through the crown of my head.

Each earth pulse spouts up, and curves gracefully out and around me, creating a gold fountain, of which I am the center.

I feel my breath align with the pulse of the earth, the rhythm of this fountain.

In every direction, it is as if I am viewing the world from behind a waterfall.

The world outside is there, but the powerful rush of the waterfall is all I hear.

It is a soothing sound, filled with ancient energy.

I hold my hands palms up, and slowly bring them together until they form a cup.

Safe and strong within my earth fountain, I feel a gift form within my cupped hands.
This gift, when I see it, will remind me of my true focus.

I wait here until I am ready to carry my gift back out into the world.

How to open your inner eyes to a fresh perspective

It’s natural to look at something from your own perspective, to think about how a particular event or circumstance affects you or impacts your life. But sometimes you can get out of an emotional or relationship roadblock by thinking of how it all looks from a different angle. Take 3 minutes to center yourself, and mentally open to the power of a fresh perspective, to understand how something might look and feel entirely different if you just take one mental step in a different direction…

Accessing the gift of a different view of things

Today I am in the middle of a very specific situation, but I am seeking a fresh perspective.

I breathe deeply, allow my feet to rest firmly on the ground and using my inner vision, I look around at my situation.

Calmly I note the different things I see.

Because strong emotions sometimes create clouds around the truth, I note each strong emotion I feel about this situation.

As I name each strong emotion, the cloud of that emotion flows gently to the side and the air becomes clearer.

As these emotions depart, I am able to see some of the facts more clearly. They stand around me like stones. I don’t have to name each one, only be aware that these stones are arranged in a particular pattern. Some are clustered together over here, others are farther apart over there.

Now I take one step.

The arrangement of stones looks slightly different now; not because they have moved, but because I have.

This, then, is the secret gift of moving away from my own position.

Each time I exert the energy to shift, to move, or to grow, the facts of my situation look different.

Today I am grateful for the gift of movement, and for the gift of a new perspective.

Even though my eyes are closed, I begin to sense a shimmering of tiny flowing lights around me, the sparkling of a thousand colors of healing light.

The circle of my breath glows as I breathe in, and my body and spirit know how to pull that rainbow of light into my circulatory system, my respiratory system, my digestive processes, and the electrical and chemical systems that help me live.

Each time I breathe in, the air is rich in healing gifts of luminous color. I am breathing a rainbow of love and healing.

As I release each breath, I return myself to openness for the next inflow of glimmering healing gifts.

I am safe and protected as I breathe and shine and hum.

When I encounter a blockage within the positive flow of my sexual energy, I gently and willingly work to clear it.

I work to build trust with my partner so that he is aware of my needs and desires just as I learn his needs.

No matter how many mistakes I’ve made with regard to the love and care of my sexuality, today I choose maintain healthy sexual boundaries, and I don’t invest the whole of my heart or body outside those boundaries.

My healthy sexuality is a shining, radiant thing within me; I hold it in sacred trust, and honor it with loving care.

Affirm your courage as you accept an uneasy or unknown path…

Today I look ahead to the path that lies before me.

I may not feel brave, but I know that bravery is about choosing to act in spite of my fear.

My fear is allowed to come on this journey, and there is a place for it within me, but it will not be the driver or the chooser. I will listen to my fear’s voice, just as I listen to the other emotions in my heart of hearts.

Each of my feelings has a brightly colored bowl to rest in. I take a moment to sit without judgement before each one.

Red for my frustration and anger.

Blue for my sadness and grief.

Purple for my fear and frustration.

Orange for my anxiety and nervousness.

Yellow for my joy and serenity.

Green for my hope and trust.

All these things have a place inside me, and I have a place in the universe, which yearns and works for my good.

Even though I feel unsteady, I will be walking into the unknown.

Everything I know, everything I feel, everything I am goes with me.

And I am not alone.

I’m doing the best I can in this situation.

Some things in life simply aren’t simple. In fact, they are much more often complex, and nuanced, and even tangled.

I know what I don’t know.

Wisdom will grow in me as I humbly accept that I don’t know all the right decisions to make all the time.

Wisdom comes with experience.

I have gathered what information I can about this choice, and now I allow that choice to sit within me, gently shining.

It may be a hard choice, but just for this moment I accept that it’s a hard choice, and I allow the clamoring voices of all the other choices to fade.

This will be my choice.

I commit to this choice because even if it’s painful, it embodies the most hope, the most good, the most truth.

I release my fear of the known, and the unknown, and rest in this place of peace.

No matter what happens after I release this choice into the world, I will eventually make my way forward.

Do you trust your feelings today?

Some days you go into the world more cautiously than others. Perhaps you’re not sure why you are being so hesitant or guarded… Or whether you should trust your feelings at all. I invite you to take 3 minutes to listen to your feelings, to validate yourself, and to sit peacefully in a balanced place between your head and your heart.

3 minutes to listen to, understand, and trust your feelings…

Today I will listen to my inner GPS. I will give my feelings an open, safe place within me to tell me more clearly what’s going on in the tender places of my soul.

Is something amiss?

What fears are circling my inner light?

Is someone being judgmental, or shaming, or disapproving of me?

Is someone ignoring, rejecting, or too busy for me?

I concentrate on feeling grounded, calm, and quietly luminous, because I am in control of the things I feel, and by my own self-care I create a safe arena for the truth to be shared.

I attend to my own needs to be respected, loved, valued, and treated well.

These needs are in no way inappropriate, and I will see that they are met
by caring for myself by keeping my connections with people who treat me well, and by allowing unhealthy bonds to fade and eventually dissolve.

Today I trust my feelings.

I hear what they have to say, for my feelings can be wise.

I am relaxed. I am centered. I am focused.

No matter what I feel, both my heart and my head are working together today to choose the best path for me.

Is fear holding you back?

If fear is interfering with your ability to be fully present in your own life, or making you behave in ways that don’t match your values, or keeping you from being connected with those who are important to you, I invite you to take three minutes to look honestly and compassionately at your fear, and see what it has to teach you.

An Affirmation for Changing Your Relationship With Fear

I have the power to change my relationship with fear.

There’s nothing wrong with being afraid. But rather than being frozen or misdirected by fear, today I choose to turn my full attention to it for just a few minutes. I can do this because I am in charge of myself. This time is for my benefit.

First I note the sensations I’m feeling.

What is the temperature or texture of my fear?

What people or experiences are connected to it?

I calmly nod to each character or story that plays a part in my fear.

I listen carefully for a moment. Is there a message my fear wants to share? I allow time for that message to become clear.

I breathe in for 3 counts, pulling in confidence and resolution.

I breathe out for 5 counts, releasing anxiety and paralysis.

I finish my listening time by turning my thoughts to the things I am grateful for…

Are you in control of your emotional triggers?

Emotional triggering is a survival response. If you’ve been struck by lightning before, it makes sense that you would be on high alert during a thunderstorm.

You can’t control a thunderstorm, but you also don’t have to allow it to keep you cowering in fear. I invite you to take 3 minutes to find your center, and make a start at getting in control of any strong negative emotion you’re feeling right now. 

A Meditation for Managing Your Emotional Triggers

I breathe deeply and gently turn my attention to the strong negative emotion I’ve been feeling. I can take a moment to name the feeling.

Is it fear? Anger? Guilt? Sadness?

This strong feeling is inside and around me, but it isn’t me.

I calmly gather the storm of emotion I feel. I scoop it together with my hands, and set it aside to consider later.

I let a clean, cool wind blow any remaining distress away. Now my emotional horizon is sparkling and clear.

Later I will take some time to find out why these emotions are rising up, and I will be compassionate toward myself, and work toward my healing.

My emotions are strong, but they are not who I am. And they are not in charge of me.

I know I deserve love and respect. I deserve to be understood and treated fairly. I deserve a life of beauty and joy.

I am not in control of what others do or say, but I am in control of my reaction.I will be compassionate toward myself, and work toward my healing.
